We're On A Mission
STARS students within the School of Informatics and Computing aim to attract students to computing-related study. The group is especially interested in increasing the participation in computing of women and other under-represented groups. STARS works in partnership with a number of local schools and youth-serving groups, and with our own school and campus advisors.
STARS activities include projects and programs that
- educate and bring awareness to K-12 students and their parents about technology, informatics, and computing as fields of study and eventual careers
- familiarize middle and high school students with the possibilities for study at IUPUI
- disseminate lessons learned about best practices for accomplishing the group mission
The STARS program at IUPUI is part of a national alliance of over 30 colleges and universities throughout the US. The alliance received its initial funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Additional funding is provided by host schools, external grants, and corporate sponsors.
